North Okanagan Friendship Centre Society offers culturally rooted workshops that welcome the whole community to learn, create, and connect.
Our workshops are free of charge and open to all people, welcoming both Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members. Each workshop provides a respectful space where participants can create meaningful art while fostering positivity, understanding, and connection to Indigenous cultures.

Workshops We Offer

Ribbon Skirt Workshop
Hosted by Coreen Jenner, this two-part workshop is designed for beginners where participants create their own ribbon skirt while learning about the cultural significance behind this meaningful garment.
No sewing experience is required, and participants will be guided step-by-step in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Dream Catcher Workshop
Hosted by Mezmer from Mezzy’s Crafts, this workshop shares the history and teachings of dream catchers while guiding participants through creating their own to take home.

Beading Workshop
Hosted by Kathy Williams, this workshop invites participants to create their own beaded masterpiece. Projects may include items such as earrings or pins, while learning beading techniques in a supportive environment.
Some projects may require two sessions to complete a full beaded piece with guidance from the instructor.
Drum Making Workshop
Join us for an afternoon of learning and hands-on creation as you build your own Indigenous drum. Guided step-by-step by Randy Spinks, participants will create and take home their own rawhide drum.
These workshops are offered in small groups to ensure the instructor can provide guidance and support to each participant throughout the process.
